BizJam Seattle 2008
This was the second year for Biznik’s indie business conference, now expanded to two days. Day one (July 9) was devoted to Social Media with a number of excellent speakers. Keynoter DL Byron (Textura Design) gave an overview of the meteoric rise of the prominence of blogs, social networks, and photo and video sharing sites - and the back channels of Web communication that power these connections. Eric Weaver (Edelman Digital) helped distinguish between the archive Web and the live Web, with the latter liked much better by Google. By leveraging your Twitter account you can get your blog post indexed on Google within hours.
Social media maven Aliza Sherman gave a bubbly talk on managing and leveraging multiple social media accounts. Can you believe she’s on 50+ social networks? How do you get people to comment on your blog posts? Aliza says: “As a question.” Another Day One highlight was Jim Turner (Genuine Blog): “A Web site is your house and your blog is your living room.”
Day Two began with the dazzling Lisa Johnson from Portland who previewed her Free Agent Formula
with great strategies for maximizing your success as an independent business person, especially her advice to Expand Your Revenue Models. She outlined four progressive areas for leverage:
| REVENUE STREAM | LEVERAGE POINT selegiline transdermal emsam |
| A. Consulting Services | Time |
| B. Live Presentations | Premium hour of time |
| C. Product Sales | Knowledge, content |
| D. Ads and Affiliate Sales | Community |
I also enjoyed How Not to Network by Ilise Benun from Hoboken NJ. She described the Master Networker as someone with these qualities:
- Warm and approachable
- Engaging and curious
- Talks to anybody about anything
- Actually cares about the other person
- Is fearless
- Is a connector
She had us hone our “10-word blurb” about what we do. My result?
“I write business plans that make investors open their checkbooks.” best hgh stack goonies the download free buy hgh genentech
Congratulations to Biznik co-founders Lara Eve Feltin and Dan McComb for a second great year at BizJam!
