Deb Hermanson and I met several times with Whit Alexander, CEO of Burro, to coach him for his investor presentation at the ZINO Marketplace event Nov. 15, 2011. And it seems to have paid off — Whit won the “Best Presenter” award from among 15 companies presenting.

As stated on its Web site, “Burro is a new kind of company dedicated to delivering high-quality, affordable goods and services to low-income families in the developing world.” The first office is open in Ghana, and Whit splits his time between there and his home in Seattle. Many folks in the local entrepreneurial community know Whit as the co-founder of Cranium, acquired in 2008 by Hasbro Inc. (NYSE: HAS) for a reported $77 million.
